Little Artist

Finn is getting the hang of scribbling...and doing much less crayon eating!

My Big Girl

Today Addie and I toured Our Savior's Lutheran Preschool. It was great, and Addie integrated right into the 3-4 year class. It seems its a good place, and she will start a two hour, two day/week class this fall and she will be joined by our friend Spencer Jacobsen. I am glad for the growing independence for her, but sad to have her gone and realize how quickly she will be starting kindergarten!

Home after our tour, the teacher gave her a special gift bag for Noah's Ark week. She was quite pleased and excited to return!

"Look Mommy, I'm You!"

While I was getting Finn fed and into his shoes for some shopping, Addie decided to play pretend and go through my prepped purse ( I usually keep it out of sight as Finn has been known to rifle not as gently through my purses). Never have I seen someone so excited about glasses or my new contact solution from my appointment this morning.

Big Boy Chair

Finn requested this chair today, I hadn't considered putting him at the table until he asked...he looks far too old for my liking.

Last Day With Auntie Jacey

We spent our last day with Auntie in Everett. Addie was so tired out (and still nursing a cold) that she told me, "I need to go take a long nap now" (at 11 am), and then proceeded to head upstairs and do just that. This allowed Finn to spend the afternoon with Grammy, and Auntie, Grampy and I to head out for a Ladro latte stop, and some University Bookstore shopping.

Auntie Jacey picked out some special paints and art paper for Addie while we were out.
An Octopus

After dinner at our favorite mexican spot, I made sour cream vanilla cupcakes with maple buttercream frosting. Finn was a fan. He shared with Auntie Jacey (and cousin Shiring, 19 weeks).

Weekend at Grammy's

Little Finn enjoying a snack by the fire pit
Addie fell asleep enjoying the fire
Finn liked this bouncy chair
My how the chicks have grown
These are some amazingly friendly chickens

After visiting the neighbors, I thought Finn looked too cute carrying his little monkey up the hill to Grammy's house.
Love my happy little guy

S'more's

We roasted marshmallows at Grammy's during Finn's nap yesterday. It just feels like the thing to do when out in the country with access to a nice fire pit.
Turns out Addie is a fan of the s'more, though not as much a fan of gooey marshmallow vs. long hair!

Mmm
She loves him enough to share her s'more!

Tea?

Addie loves to have tea at Grammy's with real bone china. She very carefully served everyone and enjoyed her own tea (with a fair amount of cream and sugar).
"Can I pour you some tea?"

Books for Baby Shiring

While visiting on Whidbey, we had a little book shower for Jacey out on the Coupeville wharf with some family friends. We are just days from finding out if we will welcome our first niece or our first nephew in September, but pink or blue they all need books!

Saturday Morning Cartoons

...yes, there's and app for that!

The Party Begins!

Auntie Jacey arrived Thursday night, and it has been a party ever since. Addie asked Jacey first thing in the morning, "do you think you'd maybe like to go bobsledding with me?". We didn't manage to bobsled, but we did have a good day. We had grandparents, coffee, shopping, spa pedicures, movies, pizza and lots of treats. With all that, I didn't manage one picture until the day was nearly over...I have until Tuesday to remedy that!

Stuck inside again..

...on my "post-work punishment day"! If you're not familiar with this term, its what we call Finn's behavior the day after I've been gone for work. When I work a 12, he wakes and I'm already gone, and I don't get home until after he's in bed...so I miss an entire day with him. The following day he doesn't let me stray too far from his side, often clinging to my legs. "Mama up!" is what I heard from him all day, which translates into "hold me!". I guess holding a cute boy isn't the worst punishment out there!

In addition to my clingy, sick boy, Addie developed the same sick symptoms as brother and the rains returned. Needless to say, yesterday we were in full-on lock-down mode!

Bored of being downstairs...
He headed for the "big bath" upstairs and started saying "bath" over and over while tugging at his clothing.
They both like the big claw foot tub upstairs that we rarely use...
...it was a good rainy day activity
"out!"

Our Weekend in Photo's

This weekend wasn't quite what we expected as our little man's teething illness, became an actual illness complete with a very productive cough, fever, and runny nose. We did our best to quarantine our children, and not share the sick with those at church, or the Point Defiance Zoo that we had wanted to visit. Despite his illness, Finn was really a good sport and we had a good weekend, just a little different than we had envisioned!

Friday night popcorn
On Saturday morning, one of our projects was packing away some remaining baby gear, including all the bottles. It was a bit sad, but we marked the occasion by letting our boy try his first taste of peanut butter. Here was his first bite...he liked the second...and all the rest that followed much more!
We took Finn to the downtown REI to select a much needed new pair of shoes. We had him measured and then picked out a pair with easy access for a more plump foot. Its hard to believe my little baby is in a size 6, the same size as sister! Afterward, we grabbed a latte at Vivace and headed to the Ravenna park to enjoy the 70 degree sunshine.
Addie picked flowers the entire time and filled both her and Finn's shoes with them.
Still drippy
High fives for the Dada
He kept rolling around laughing, blinded by the Seattle sun
We were able to get some work done around the yard. There is always so much to do, it can be a bit overwhelming!

Addie and Shouka ready to help Dad with the picket fence.
She spent both mornings watching her Daddy work, and helping out when possible!
Addison helped me plant the seedlings we grew in our kitchen, and some seeds! We had to send Finn off with Dad as his dirt-eating and rock tossing was not terribly helpful.
Finn worked on his barbeque skills as Daddy cooked dinner on the grill.
He loves the playhouse! (and check out that runny nose!)
