Brown-Eyed Girl

Belated Birthday Cake

Addie desperately wanted to make a cake for me for my birthday, and this wednesday Blake had time to assist her. She had wanted to make me a "pink cake", but settled on a pineapple upside-down cake as pink cake recipes were few and far between.
My little cake baking goddess!

The cake was finished at 9:30 p.m.. and the three of us had a piece right then. It was excellent!

Little Cranky Pants

Oh the joys of a cranky-teether! Today Finn took a very poor afternoon nap and woke up with a teething fever. All I could think to do was take him outside as it was gloriously sunny. Luckily for me, the sun on his toes and a little snack fixed him right up!

He loves pulling out grass (and luckily doesn't try and eat it)

Sunny Play Day

We were lucky to have Kristal, Coleson and Tate for lunch and playtime yesterday. The sun allowed the kids to be outside and go to our park. It was a good time visiting and relaxing in the sun!
Yeah, we tried...never got smiles all around
But they did get a bit silly

Imagine Playdate

Yesterday we met my college friend Brooke and her daughter Claire at Imagine Children's Museum (very convenient for us!). Claire is 10 months younger than Addie and they had a great time checking out all the exhibits, as did little Finn (he especially liked the ball exhibits).

Tulips

On our way off the Island on Sunday, we figured we might as well drive through Mount Vernon and La Conner to see the pretty tulip fields as we drove home, little did we know this was an ill-fated endeavor. We had not anticipated the stop and go traffic for miles on those country back roads...so we got out and took a break and actually check out the fields. We had two tired kids that were all out of camera smiles, and the sun beating down on us and little time to fix the exposure. It made for some pretty poor photos, but still kind of a funny memory as it took us 3 hours to get home.
